Of Sasuke and Itachi...

A little annoyed…

Omg. Yes, it’s a “rant”. Yes, it’s long. But I rarely ever complain to you guys, so I think I have the right to do it this once. :/
…So, my buddy Kai made a poll a little while ago, which concerned Naruto.
She wanted to know who people wanted to see win the fight between Itachi and Sasuke, and why.
As I suspected, most people would rather see Itachi win. Heck, more people wanted to see ZETSU win, rather than Sasuke. Yes, Zetsu was the third choice; silly, silly Kai. XD
Personally, I think Sas' should win this one. :/ Yes, yes… I want him to get some sense knocked into him, just as much as the next Narutard does... but not by Itachi. That just wouldn’t work out. Naruto or Sakura has to be the one to do it.
I think a lot of people don't want Sasuke to win because they already have a grudge against him - and the comments on Kai’s poll are proof enough of that fact - which really isn’t fair. That's like watching a police officer chasing down an escaped criminal, and saying that you hope the cop is the one who ends up getting shot and killed just because he gave you a parking ticket the week before. :/
Yes, I know that there will always be people out there who still want Itachi to win despite all this. That fact is going to remain. But so are several others.
Number one; Sasuke is the good guy here. Itachi is the psychopathic murderer. And how “hawt” you or anyone else might think he is isn’t going to change that. Ever.
Two; Sasuke has never been a “bad guy”. He has never been “evil”. He is not a “second Orochimaru”. Maybe I’m the only one who ever paid enough attention to the actual storyline to know that. You know… while most of you were too busy hating Sakura or thinking about how hot the boys were to care much about where Kishimoto was actually going with this thing.
During the Zabuza arc, Sasuke saved Naruto and Sakura’s butts several times. Even that early into their relationship, Sasuke was willing to throw away his life for them.
During the fight with Gaara, he told Naruto to save Sakura instead of him, because he didn’t want to see his closest friends get taken away. ( This was the part where the fangirls were saying, “He and Naruto make the better couple; why herrrrr?” )
During his fight with Naruto at the Valley of the End, Sasuke had several chances to kill Naruto right then and there. But he didn’t. And almost immediately afterward, he was already regretting the damage he had done. He vowed that he wasn’t going to “take Itachi’s way out” and gain power by killing the people he cared about. ( But y’all didn’t hear that part; you were too busy thinking about how “Shmexay” he is with his hair wet. )
Even at the point where he’s shown training with Orochimaru, he still hasn’t “gone to the dark-side”. He says he doesn’t like to kill people, and Oro even tells him he’s still soft-hearted. ( Ah, but his shirt was open there, so you probably missed that little tidbit… )
When he goes to kill Orochimaru, Sasuke says that part of the reason he’s doing it is because he “doesn’t like his methods”. For anyone who’s scratching their head right now, trying to figure that out, it means he doesn’t like the way Oro slaughters people for no good reason.
I can think of a few more, but I’ll end it with this one… It concerns the point in time where he sets out to form his new team. If he’s such a bad guy, why does he release all of the people Oro’s been holding captive as experiments, instead of just taking who he needs and leaving everyone else to rot? That doesn’t sound like something your typical “evil bastard”-type character does.
Now, I’m not going to deny that Sasuke has done some really selfish, bratty, and generally not-so-nice things. Because he has. All I’m saying is that those things alone aren’t what make a person “bad” or “evil”.
We’ve ALL done some of them, at some point. Even you; even me.
Let’s admit it, and move on.
Now that we’ve got the “is Sasuke really evil?” bit out of the way, we’ll get to case number three. I’ve found that the majority of people who hate Sasuke feel that way - at least in part - because he’s what they consider “your typical emo”. Strangely enough, most of these same folks are the ones who will claim that they are the ones who have the right to be truly emo ( fear of competition, much? ). Oh, I’m terribly sorry, Deary. So the state of your life’s worse than someone who’s had their family slaughtered, is it? Yes, not being able to see Greenday in concert or find a dark enough shade of mascara can be tough on a person… Just keep slitting, Dear. Just keep slitting.
Case and point, there are people who have real problems, and there are people who pretend to have problems. We call the imitation “emo”. Sasuke doesn’t pretend to have problems. His family actually IS gone. And if someone killed off your entire family tomorrow, I doubt you’d use that as an excuse to sit around and further your “emo status” by cutting yourself and putting on dark make-up. My bet is that you’d have more important things on your mind, like – let’s say – revenge? Sound familiar? ACTUAL emotional pain isn’t what makes one “emo”. An insatiable craving for attention is.
Fact number four; this one concerns Itachi more than it does Sasuke. Ok, so it’s finally been revealed that Itachi didn’t kill the clan entirely on his own. He was Madara’s pawn, and had his help in doing it.
…And your point is?
Many people are now under the impression that just because he didn’t do it “all by himself” ( look Mummy; no hands ), that suddenly makes him somehow less evil. Whether he killed one of them, or half of them doesn’t make the slightest difference. He’s still nothing but a murderer, either way.
Five; this one is one I’ve only just started seeing recently, and it’s one of the most absurd: “Sasuke needs to die because the way keeps pulling out new Jutsu is annoying and ridiculous.” What, you mean like REAL ninja are supposed to be able to do? Is he making your precious Naruto look so bad that he deserves to die for it now? ( Because really, the kid’s learned two new Jutsu in three years; Rasengan and… another version of Rasengan. =_= )
…Seriously people; what the bloody hell? That’s so far from making even the smallest bit of sense that it’s sad. Is that honestly the best excuse you can come up with for wanting Sasuke dead?
He’s been training to defeat Itachi since he was eight years old, and you really think he’s going to show up at their final showdown with the same old parlor tricks and nothing new up his sleeve? Running screaming into battle with no strategy and only dumb luck to aid you is something Naruto would do. And let’s face it; the only reason he hasn’t died yet is because without him, there’d be no story. -_-
NUMBAH SIX… This one I’ve seen many times; the notion that Sasuke “deserves” to die because he killed poor widdle Deidara. Most importantly, Sasuke DID. NOT. KILL. DEIDARA. Deidara fecking killed himself. The nut-job decided that instead of using his last bit of strength to get himself AWAY from Sasuke, he’d turn himself into “art” instead. Believe me, he was happy doing it. =_=
In my opinion, Sasuke tied with Deidara. They were both completely beat at the end of the fight. The only difference between them is what they did with the last of their chakra. Sasuke did the smart thing and got his ass out of there by summoning Manda, while Deidara decided it would be better to turn himself into a human time bomb.
Either way, even if Sasuke had actually killed Deidara with his own two hands, how does that mean he deserves to die? Going by that logic, Naruto and Kakashi “deserve” to die because they killed Kakuzu. Sakura “deserves” to die because she helped kill Sasori. Shikamaru “deserves” to die because he killed Hidan. Neji, Chouji, Shikamaru, Kiba, Lee, Temari, Kankuro and Gaara; they ALL “deserve” to die because they killed the Sound Four and Kimimaro. All because someone out there somewhere liked those characters and wishes they were still around. For the love of god, people, they were the BAD GUYS. What is it about that fact that you don’t understand? Somehow all of these good guys don’t deserve to die for killing off baddies, but Sasuke does? While at the same time, Itachi also doesn’t deserve to die, when he’s the one who killed his entire FAMILY? You’re all sick in the head if that’s the way you think.
Just because you liked one of the bad guys – “bad guys” being the operative phrase here – doesn’t mean that the good guy who killed him off deserves to die. Get over it already. With that out of the way; I have nothing against Deidara. There, I said it. You all happy now? Sure, he was cool and everything, but so were a lot of the good guys that died. And I don’t see nearly as many people grieving over them.
And with that, I’m going to break it off. Don’t think I wrote all that just because I’m a “Sasuke fan”. Because I’m really not. Some of you probably didn’t know this - nor will you probably care - but Sasuke is far from being my favorite character. He’s like…number four or five, or something.
If you want to look underneath the underneath, this whole thing doesn’t even necessarily have to do with Sasuke or Itachi. Take any one of those arguments, and I’ll bet you can fit it to many other characters, too. The brothers just happen to be a great example.
The real reason I wrote this is because ever since I first got into Naruto, I’ve been growing increasingly disgusted with most of my fellow “Narutards”. They don’t even care about the story itself any more; it’s become all about who’s the hottest and who “should die” for killing them.
And now I feel I should tell you that this isn’t directed at any one person in particular, but rather an entire fan-base. To quote a famous ( and over-used ) siggy, “I hate everyone equally.” [:
Alright, so maybe hate is a strong word. But I am rather disappointed.
I know a lot of you won’t agree with everything I said, but that doesn’t really matter to me. Chances are, I could never change everyone’s minds, so I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. There’s going to be a lot of people who will try to give me “good reasons” for why the things I listed above are legitimate grounds for wanting Sasuke dead. To those people; save your breath. They’ll just never be good enough for me. :/
